Walker-Hackensack-Akeley School 2019 graduate Jacob Radke was chosen as the recipient of the Woman Lake Book and Thimble Club $2,000 scholarship that is given annually to an outstanding Hackensack area student. Radke plans to attend North Dakota State University where he will major in finance. Presently there are 15 members ages 60 to 90, dedicated to volunteering their time and effort to this worthy cause. The club raises scholarship money each year by selling homemade pies and other baked goods, books and handmade items at the Sacred Heart Flea Markets in Hackensack in June, July and August. One hundred percent of the proceeds go to the scholarship fund.  On Flea Market days, the booth is located next to the old Catholic church.
