The Laporte School Band played before a packed audience Thursday at the spring music concert.
The fifth- and sixth-grade students tried out their new instruments in January and began rehearsals in February under Director Jake Upton. Both bands were given loud applause and even proud parents gave hoots and hollers at their amazing performance!
Students in pre-K through fourth-grade entertained with songs about spring animals. Upton invited the audience in sing-a-longs, to the delight of everyone!
Laporte’s music programs is enjoying a resurgence of interest and student involvement, thanks to the community. A new Yamaha piano was given to the school through many community members’ generous donations and also debuted at the concert, with LouAnn Dierkhising as the accompanist.
