UW-Stout leadership awards
The University of Wisconsin-Stout recognized more than 100 students and student groups at its May 14 leadership awards program.
Maizee Freeman of Walker, a student in UW-Stout’s Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management program, received an award as an Outstanding Co-op Student of the Year.
Student of the Year awards were given to 18 students in the university’s Cooperative Education Program. Through Career Services, students work in a paid position in their fields of study and receive academic credit. Award winners are selected for excellent and achievement in their cooperative positions, for contributions to their employers and for academic achievement.
Concordia College, Moorhead, held commencement exercises May 5 with 437 students participating.
Hailey Bruns, daughter of Brian and Nancy Bruns, Walker, graduated with a major in international business.
Benedictine College grad
Madison Welte, Pine River, recently graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in music education from Benedictine College, Atchison Kansas.

Northwest Tech awards
Kasey Wass, Walker, was among 40 students who received awards at Northwest Technical College, Bemidji’s first student achievement celebration. Wass, a sophomore studying practical nursing and health sciences, won the “Most Improved Practical Nursing Student” award.
