Journey, Yes, Asia, Lita Ford and Foghat have all been signed to perform at Moondance Jam.

The addition of these classic rock bands, along with those signed earlier, completes the lineup of the 18th installment of Moondance Jam, the biggest classic rock fest in the Midwest.

The Jam kicks off July 15 with the Moondance Pre Jam party, featuring Hairball.

Journey, one of heavy metal’s most successful bands, will close Thursday night after an all-star line-up that includes Sheryl Crow, Kansas and Foghat.

The Friday night line-up promises to be a heavy-metal feast with Judas Priest, Whitesnake, Lita Ford and Spin Doctors performing.

Saturday evening will begin with Grand Funk Railroad followed by Asia and Yes.

Journey has been a driving force in rock and roll from its first roots in 1973 San Francisco up until its most recent release, “Revelation,” in 2008. The album, sold exclusively at WalMart, reached No. 5 on the charts and has gone platinum. It was nominated for “The Top Classic Rock Album of the Year” by Classic Rock magazine. Most recently, Journey played in the pregame show at the 2009 Super Bowl.

Although many music fans will come to hear the classic Yes hits such as “Roundabout” and “Owner of a Lonely Heart,” the band is best known for its live music, and they attract a loyal following. Their concerts are considered musical events by many.

This will be the second appearance for Yes at Moondance Jam. It comes as part of a resurgence tour after their “In the Presence Tour” had to be cancelled in February due to the illness of bass guitar player Chris Squire.

Fresh off an extended tour of Europe, Asia will be hitting the summer music festival and concert circuit in the United States which includes their performance at Moondance Jam. Asia is best known for its rock classic hit “Heat of the Moment.”

At the age of 17, Lita joined the all-female rock band The Runaways, where she played lead guitar. After the group folded in 1979, she began a solo career. Her hits include “Kiss Me Deadly,” “Close My Eyes Forever” and “Falling In and Out of Love.”

Mention Foghat and the hit songs “Slowride,” “I Just Want to Make Love to You,” or “Fool For the City” come to mind. But Foghat is another hard-rocking metal band that is known for its on-stage performances.

Other bands previously booked include Judas Priest, Whitesnake,  Grand Funk Railroad, Kansas and Sheryl Crow.

This is the first time Judas Priest and Sheryl Crow will perform at Moondance, while Kansas has performed twice, and Whitesnake and Grand Funk each once before.
