Moondance Jam is gearing up for a record three-day crowd this weekend at the Moondance Fairgrounds.

The rock and classic rock festival opens their gates for early camping and the Pre-Jam Party Wednesday with national acts hitting the main stage Thursday through Saturday.

“The last few years we have been lucky to have a big band like Motley Crue set the table for the weekend and bring fans in early,” said Moondance Events owner Kathy Bieloh. “But what surprised us this year is the huge number of single day tickets sold for Friday and Saturday. We are gearing up to handle huge crowds all three nights and are so happy with talent we have up and down the lineup. I really think this is going to be another special year and am so excited to see everyone again!”

In addition to headliners Motley Crue, Slash and The Offspring, the main stage will feature Cheap Trick, Bachman and Turner, Theory of a Deadman, Buckcherry, Halestorm, Blue Oyster Cult, Johnny Rivers, Head East, Sweet and more. In all there will be more than 50 national and regional acts on the main stage, MDJ Saloon stage, Lazy Moon acoustic stage and the upgraded Tiki Bar stage. Full schedules for all of the stages and bands, including the Pre-Jam Party, can be found at

Single day and three day tickets, three and four day general camping, camping four day upgrades and lawn chair tags for Moondance Jam 22 will be available at the gate.

Camping and Concert Gate Times

Camping check-in is from 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. Concert gates open at 5 p.m. Wednesday and at noon Thursday through Saturday.

Even though the VIP tent is not open Wednesday, there will be an early VIP check-in on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. to avoid the lines on Thursday.

Location, Parking & Shuttles

Moondance Jam is held on the Moondance Fairgrounds grounds, 6.5 miles southeast of Walker on Highway 200. There is $15 per day parking available at the Moondance Fairgrounds and $5 per day motorcycle parking.

Northern Lights Casino, 2.5 miles west of Moondance, offers $10 parking in their lot with Moondance providing a free shuttle service that runs from when the concert gates open until the concert area is empty.

Moondance Jam is a throwback with open festival seating for all general admission ticket holders. That means everyone at Moondance has equal opportunity to get up to the front of the stage or sit back on the lawn seating area.

Because of Moondance Jam’s growth the past few years and limited concert viewing area, an organized lawn chair seating area has been added for 2013 to make room for more fans and to provide walkways across the grounds. Lawn chair seating spots will still be given out on a daily, first-come-first-served basis, as in the past, with fans taking away their chairs every night.

Note: If you want to get up front for some of the bigger shows, arrive early at the concert area. Otherwise, bring in your lawn chair, set up camp, explore the concert area and enjoy the shows.
