A special presentation on Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), especially for veterans and their families, is scheduled for Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at the Pine River American Legion.
Dr. James Tuorila, PhD Clinical Psychologist who specializes in assessment and treatment of veterans with post-traumatic stress, will present this free session. All who are interested are welcome to attend.
Tuorila is a licensed psychologist and US Army Veteran who ran the in-house PTSD program at the St. Cloud Veterans Administration for many years. He has over 33 years of diverse experience, and retired in 2006. Tuorila served in the U.S. Army from 1973 to 1977, stationed in Korea. He has received the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Korean Defense Medal and two Army Commendation Medals.
He currently provides consulting and counseling services through Tuorila Consulting in Sartell, specializing in treating veterans and civilians with PTSD, and also works with family members. Tuorila has made a big impact on veterans’ lives over the years through his dedication to those who are struggling to get their lives back together.
This free event is sponsored and hosted by the Northern Lakes Vets and Friends Group, a non-affiliated, long-term support group for veterans who struggle with the effects of their military service and readjusting to civilian life. They meet weekly on Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. at the Developmental Achievement Center in Pine River. Meetings are confidential.
