A 16-year-old girl was found dead June 5 around 4:35 p.m., inside a car that had gone into the Red Lake River in Crookston.
Polk County authorities received a call about a car floating in the river. Before the car finally sank, a police officer saw that it was occupied.
Fire personnel entered the river in a watercraft and located the car with the help of a drone. Divers found the girl inside the car. Her identity has not been released. The body was transported to the University of North Dakota Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy. (Bemidji Pioneer, Star-Tribune)
