John Rutten was born in Hopkins, Minn., in 1976 and graduated from Hopkins High School in 1994.
He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1998 and did his basic training at Great Lakes Naval Station and A School at Pensacola, Fla., trained as an Aviation Structural Mechanic.
John had a long and interesting career in the Navy. His duty stations include NAS Jacksonville, Fla., NS Mayport, Fla., and Edwards Air Base in California.
He was deployed to the Persian Gulf and served on the USS Enterprise, USS Truman and the USS Vella Gulf. He has worked on the F35 Stealth Fighter at Edwards AFB and Helicopters including the/SH-60 Seahawks. He has been to ports of call all over the world.
John was honorably discharged from the Navy in 2018 and lives in Walker where he is employed by Walker Marine.
