Pickle ball is the fastest growing sport in the nation. While it is very popular with seniors, it is enjoyed by people of all ages.
During the past few years Walker has become known as a pickle ball town. There are presently seven indoor courts at the Walker Area Community Center and it is not uncommon to have more players than space available. Players travel from Nevis, Akeley, Longville and Hackensack to play.
To help address this growing sport, the Walker Park Board presented to the council a plan to add three outdoor courts at the City Park that was approved.
Pickle ball enthusiasts will host an official opening and celebration of the courts July 22.
