The Lady Wildcats’ season came to an end Monday night as host Browerville handed them an 81-5 loss in the opening round of the Class 5A North playoffs.

The Tigers will now face No. 2 seed Pine River-Backus, while Laporte finishes the season at 0-26.

Senior Camryn Smith scored all five Laporte points, including a three-pointer in the first half at the Tigers led by 42 at the break.

Besides Smith, Laporte loses Kiah Reimer and Keairah Urrutia to graduation. They have several young players returning.

Alyah Abrahamson was the Tigers’ floor general, finishing with 12 points and 15 assists. Megan Benning led the team with 25 points, including converting 13-14 foul shots.

Nevis wins by 40

The Nevis Tigers got off to fast start and Laporte never back into the game as they fell 70-30 at home Feb. 18.

With the win Nevis improves to 2-20. They jumped out to a 10-0 lead en route to a 36-12 halftime advantage.

Smith was the only Wildcat to show up as she scored 17 points.

Both Katie Kamphaus and Makenna Frazier scored 17 to lead the Tigers.
