Jaden Clyde of gets inside to score a basket in Laporte’s home loss to the Wolves.

The Wildcats came into the new year looking for their first win, but 2019 did not get off to a good start as they lost two games last week.

Thursday night Laporte fell 83-35 at Northome-Kelliher, and the next night Walker-Hackensack-Akeley overcame a slow start to hand host Laporte a 72-37 loss.

Against Northome-Kelliher, the Wildcats trailed 58-23 at the half, and were held to only 12 points in the second half.

Devon Lafriniere led Laporte with 14 points, while both Chris McDougall and Ethan Moss scored eight.

Of the three Mustangs to finish in double figures, Adnew Stueven led the way with 29 points, of which he scored 22 in the first half. Bradley Barrett and Samuel Rahier each scored 12.

The two losses drop Laporte to 0-10 with three games on the schedule this week. They host Littlefork-Big Falls, Clearbrook-Gonvick and Lake of the Woods, and next week Blackduck comes to Laporte.
