A listing of all donors that supported the Hospice Tournament

The Tianna 18-Hole Ladies League held their annual golf event June 13 benefitting CHI St. Joseph’s Health Hospice Care at the Tianna Country Club.

Twenty-one teams enjoyed a beautiful Minnesota summer day.

Once again, this golf event raised more than $13,000 to help support the work CHI St. Joseph Health Hospice Care does throughout the region. It serves our community in many ways by providing end-of-life care to over 150 patients and families.

The Tianna Ladies League and CHI St. Joseph Hospice Care thank the business community, individuals and families for their generosity as sponsors and cash and in-kind donors. A listing of donors was provided for all players on their placement.

Co-chairs Carol Doschadis and I thank the committee for the many hours spent putting this together. Committee members were Jan Filkins, Sherrie Vandenheuvel, Joyce Nelson Schuette, Kelly Nelson, Kathy Green, Karen Cochran, TLGA President Ann Owen and CHI St. Joseph’s Health and Hospice Care Representative Betsy Meyer.

Other league members who greatly assisted were Shirley Olson, Arlene Gjevre, Judie Page, Bonnie Franke and Chris Barnes. A big thank you to Carrie Johnson and Karla Johnson for their support, and the Tianna staff. Volunteers from the mens’ golf league, the community and from hospice helped make the day run smoothly.  Edgewater May Creek staff manned a relief station on No. 5 with water and snacks.

We are truly grateful to all of you.

The game for the day was a four-person scramble of all men, women or a combo.

First place went to the team of Bob Grove, John Martin, Joe Bouvette and Pete Rogers with a score of 60.

Taking second were Bob Elleraus, Bob Chose, Terry Hambrecht and Dave Morris with a score of 63, and the team of Kathy Green, Chuck Green, Judie Page and Jerry Page were third with a score of 64.

Two other teams that had a score of 64 were Diann Howell, Guy Howell, Arlene Gjevre and Dick Gjevre, and the team of Dave Cochran, Jeff Hanson, Bob Ostlund and John Burn. The tie was broken according to USGA rules.

Field events included three hole-in-one opportunities with prizes of $5,000 on hole 2, TV or set of Callaway irons on hole 11 and a $500 VISA card on hole 15. Although no one won those prizes, Tim Gilsrud won a prize, made by Gary Raymond, for putting his drive in the water on No. 2. Way to go, Tim!

Congratulations to other field events winners: closest to the pin for men on 2, Dave Daniels; closest to the pin for women on 15, Kianna Johnson; longest putt on 16, Jim Pitzen; closest to the line on 9, Sharon Keister for the second year in a row; and hole the circle on 11, Judie Page, Joe Bouvette and Bob Elleraas.

The practice putting green was set up for a putting contest. MJ Warren was the only person who made the putt.

In the club house players bid on raffle prizes and silent auction items all contributed by our generous community. One last opportunity to go home a winner was the drawing for door prizes.

A delicious lunch was served by Tianna staff so all players went home with a full tummy.

Please support the businesses on our donor list, plan to play next year and bring a another team with you.
