18-Hole League

The best league day weather of the season (at least since I’ve been home) and we only had 18 ladies out to enjoy it. The game of the day was CHA CHA CHA.  Count one net on the first hole, two on the second, third on the third and repeat.

Yes it would be nice to substitute scores from holes where the whole team did well, but that’s not the American way.

It was a pretty close race between the three winners, but the team of  Carol Doschadis, Linda Aitken, Ann Owen and Tanis Beadle took first. Karen Cochran, Bonnie Franke, Kay Ekberg and Imogene Caron came in second, and third was won by Patty Brandt, Sharon Keister Judie Page and a lucky blind draw.

We only had one chip-in which was by Sharon Keister on Hole 10. Always a good time to do that when you don’t have to split the pot.

Ann Owen deserves a big shout-out and an honorable mention for her birdie on hole 3.

Following golf we had our monthly lunch and meeting. The Tianna kitchen crew served a very nice taco bar. There were reports from the various committees and reminders of the upcoming events.  Mark down the Longbow Guest Day here July 18, as well as the invitation to their course Aug. 14. We also have the Capital Campaign July 28.

This week we will have a new rules review following golf, so plan on a little extra time.

Last, but certainly not least, June 13 will be our St Joseph’s Hospice Tournament, which is the big one for our league. Open to anyone  and everyone — a four-person scramble. Get your team together, sign up and come have some fun while you win prizes, raffles, and a 50-50 drawing. If you don’t win it’s still a great cause.
