The wind was blowing June 25, making setup and tear down difficult. But not the crowd.

Great young fishers, families, volunteers showing up to make a great event.  We even had a very special guest come visit — 95-year-old Harry “Pete” W. Shaw Jr., a 75-year veteran of D-Day in Normandy. He was enlisted in the Army, 283rd Field Artillery Battalion. The 283rd FAB fought in five battle campaigns in 263 days of combat.

Harry was awarded five Battle Stars and four Bronze Stars.  He recently returned from the 75th anniversary of D-Day in Normandy where he was recognized as a Veteran of the Year. Search YouTube for Harry Shaw Memoir for further information.

We recognize Harry’s commitment and sacrifice to our country with a group picture and want to thank him for his service.

Seventy-nine children caught and released 108 fish.
